The arrival of a new baby is always exciting and it’s not only the parents who will be celebrating. Friends and extended family members also share in this joy and the little one is bound to be showered with gifts! If you are preparing to welcome an Autumn baby, there are a few things to remember when gift shopping.
The first thing is that the weather is about to get a whole lot colder. If you plan on including clothing, make sure that you look for something warm and snug. Long sleeves, hats, gloves, and booties are all excellent choices. When the weather is colder, a newborn baby will need to be covered from head to toe.
Another good item to remember is a blanket. Fluffy blankets are not ideal for newborns. This is because the particles can fall off the blanket and end up in the baby’s mouth or nose. Blankets without all the puffiness are far more suitable and mum won’t need to worry if baby uses it as a teething toy!
Remember, the greatest gift you can give is your love and support. For many parents, the drive home from the airport can be quite emotional. For this reason, you could offer to drive the new happy family home while they keep the little one company in the back. Emotions can make it tough to concentrate on the road so this is also a matter of safety. Of course, they are most likely tired and in need of some alone time. This is why you should keep your visit as short as possible.
Finally, don’t forget to offer your assistance to the new parents. Help comes in many ways including making a trip to the shop for urgent supplies, making a nutritious meal for the parents, and even watching the little one for a couple of hours so that mum can take a much needed nap. Fruit hampers also make lovely gifts and they are wonderfully affordable too. They are just what mum needs to keep up her strength and they make the room bright and colorful too.
