Bread and butter pudding is a popular treat in many households. It’s the perfect comfort food and it requires just a few basic ingredients. Here’s how to make bread and butter pudding with a twist – whisky!
Ingredients:

  • 8 slices white bread (crusts removed)
  • 50g butter
  • 4 Tbsp plus 4 tsp orange marmalade
  • 300ml milk
  • 248ml heavy cream
  • 3 eggs
  • seeds from 1 vanilla pod
  • 4 Tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 Tbsp whisky
  • Icing sugar for dusting

Method:

  • Butter each slice of bread on both sides.
  • Spread marmalade on 4 of the slices. Use 1 tablespoon of marmalade for each slice.
  • Put the other 4 slices on top of those with marmalade to make 4 sandwiches.
  • Cut each sandwiche into triangles and place them in rows in a baking dish.
  • Heat the oven to 160 degrees C.
  • Beat together the milk, eggs, cream, caster sugar, vanilla, and whisky and pour it over the bread.
  • Allow it to soak for 30 minutes.
  • Dot the top of the pudding with the remaining marmalade and dust with icing sugar.
  • Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the pudding is puffy and the sugar starts to caramelise.
  • Serve warm.
