Bread and butter pudding is a popular treat in many households. It’s the perfect comfort food and it requires just a few basic ingredients. Here’s how to make bread and butter pudding with a twist – whisky!
Ingredients:
- 8 slices white bread (crusts removed)
- 50g butter
- 4 Tbsp plus 4 tsp orange marmalade
- 300ml milk
- 248ml heavy cream
- 3 eggs
- seeds from 1 vanilla pod
- 4 Tbsp caster sugar
- 1 Tbsp whisky
- Icing sugar for dusting
Method:
- Butter each slice of bread on both sides.
- Spread marmalade on 4 of the slices. Use 1 tablespoon of marmalade for each slice.
- Put the other 4 slices on top of those with marmalade to make 4 sandwiches.
- Cut each sandwiche into triangles and place them in rows in a baking dish.
- Heat the oven to 160 degrees C.
- Beat together the milk, eggs, cream, caster sugar, vanilla, and whisky and pour it over the bread.
- Allow it to soak for 30 minutes.
- Dot the top of the pudding with the remaining marmalade and dust with icing sugar.
- Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until the pudding is puffy and the sugar starts to caramelise.
- Serve warm.
