Happy workers are productive workers which is why it’s so important for employers to maintain high morale in the workplace. Here are some great tips to help keep your employees happy and improve morale along with productivity.
Order flowers
Flowers have a wonderful positive effect on your mood. Since there are so many different flowers and colours to choose from, it’s easy to find something different every time. Fresh flowers usually last for a couple of weeks so you could set up a standing flower order with your florist if you want to make sure that you don’t forget. Ask your florist to put together a bunch of seasonal flowers and set a value. This will ensure that you get the best value for money and your floral décor also suits the season.
Consider plants
Plants are also great for boosting the mood. Plants come in various sizes so you can either display larger potted plants on the floor or small ones on several desks and tables in the office. If you are worried about your plants dying, you can always be sure that cacti and succulents will require minimal care. They love warmer weather and, during the winter, the only thing you need to do is make sure that they are not placed near a window. The air closest to windows can be too cold for most plants so they might need a temporary home during these months.
Positive feedback
Your staff need compliments from time to time. It’s extremely rewarding when your boss tells you that you are doing a good job. You can do this verbally or you could send regular emails letting your staff know where they are doing really well.
Plan an event
Regular social events can be held at work and they need not cost a fortune. A year end function is always great but waiting a whole year for some team building can feel like an eternity. Plan an event every few months so that it gives your workers something they can look forward to.
Offer incentives
Healthy competition within the ranks is also great for morale provided this form of competition benefits the company and your customers. You don’t want your staff fighting over customers! Especially when those customers are present. Offer incentives like cash prizes or gift hampers to the top performing employee each month. In addition, don’t forget about your supporting staff like receptionists and all those who take care of tasks like debtors and creditors. You can offer a seperate incentive for supporting staff members since the cannot directly compete in terms of sales.
After implementing a plan, make sure that you stick to it! Continue for at least one year before you evaluate the effect of your plan and whether or not it’s working as planned or needs to be adjusted.
