There are so many different types of chocolate on the market that it can be tough to choose the right one when you want to spoil somebody special. Luxury chocolates are in a league of their own when it comes to flavour and quality.
When luxury chocolates are made, a very special process is used. Only the very best beans are used to make a rich cocoa mass. This high-quality cocoa mass is then blended with the rest of the ingredients including cocoa butter. Regular chocolates often use less cocoa mass and they use vegetable oil. This results in chocolate of a lower standard which is acceptable but not the best on the market. The lower the quality of chocolate, the more likely you are to feel an oily sensation in your mouth and the flavour is not nearly as strong.
The texture of luxury chocolate is also different from that of regular chocolate. The conching stage takes longer when making luxury chocolate. This process helps blend the chocolate and sugar until it’s impossible for the tongue to recognise the individual particles. Smoother chocolates that melt in your mouth endure a longer conching process. Normal chocolate is conched for about 4 to 6 hours where as luxury chocolate is conched for about 72 hours. This is a significant difference and, since the chocolate takes longer to make, it’s easy to understand why it has a greater value and price tag.
When you send chocolate as a gift, it’s important to understand the difference in quality. Regular store grade chocolate is usually affordable, if not cheap and you can buy a larger quantity if you want to impress somebody. That said, a lot of cheap chocolate is not nearly as appreciated as a smaller quantity of delicious luxury chocs that melt in your mouth! Keep this in mind the next time you shop for somethnig special!
