Onions are not just important ingredients in various types of food. Apart from the vital role they play in stews, soups, and so much more, onions are also great side items and snacks. You can even turn them into a meal all on their own! Here are two delicious recipes that will change the way you eat onions!
Onion and mozzarella rings
You will need:
- Onions (red ones are sweeter)
- Mozzarella block
- Eggs
- Flour
- Bread crumbs
- Oil for frying
Method:
- Clean and slice the onion in thick rings (about 1cm thick)
- Separate the rings
- Place one smaller ring inside a larger one on the table and make sure there’s a space between the two
- Fill this space with slices of mozzarella cheese (cut strips according to the size you need)
- Place in the freezer for 1 hour
- Coat with flour, egg, bread crumbs, then egg again and bread crumbs again
- Fry until golden brown
- Drain and serve with a sauce of your choice.
Cheese burger onion rings
You will need:
- Onions (red ones are sweeter)
- Cheddar cheese
- Mince meat
- Salt
- Pepper
- Onion powder
- Eggs
- Flour
- Bread crumbs
- Oil for frying
Method:
- Clean and slice the onion in thick rings (about 1cm thick)
- Separate the rings
- Season your mince with salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix well.
- Place the rings side by side and fill each halfway with mince
- Add a block of cheddar to the middle
- Top with more mince
- Coat with flour, egg, bread crumbs, then egg again and bread crumbs again
- Fry until golden brown
- Drain and serve with a sauce of your choice.
