Cheese puffs are delicious and they can be enjoyed with a wide variety of foods. They can even be enjoyed on their own! This recipe is easy to follow and yields two dozen delicious puffs. You also need just a few basic ingredients.
Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces or 8 Tbsp butter
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup flour (all-purpose)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme or rosemary chopped
  • Fresh ground black pepper

Method:

  • Place the water, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium.
  • Add the flour and stir quickly to form a dough ball. A wooden spoon will work best for mixing the dough.
  • Continue cooking the dough for a few more minutes before removing from the pan and allowing to cool for a few minutes.
  • While cooling, stir the dough to ensure even cooling.
  • Once the dough is cool enough, you can add the eggs one at a time. The dough should be cool enough that the eggs don’t start cooking as soon as they hit the dough. Continue adding and mixing until all the eggs are incorporated. The mixture will be a bit creamy now.
  • Now it’s time to add the cheese, thyme or rosemary, and pepper.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°F while you spoon portions of the dough onto a lined baking sheet. Leave at least an inch between each spoonful. Cook for 10 minutes at this temperature before lowering to 350°F and continuing to cook for another 15 – 20 minutes. They should be puffy and starting to brown.
