Halloween is the perfect time of year to get creative when serving snacks. There are so many amazing ideas out there that will have everyone in the house begging for more! Remember, since we usually enjoy a bit of a sugar overdose at this time of year, it’s good to balance it out a bit with healthy snacks too.
Eggs
Hard boil some eggs, remove the yolks and mix with some mustard and/or mayonaise. Add tumeric or another mild flavoured orange spice to give the yolks an orange colour and pipe back into the egg whites. Shape them to resemble pumpkins and add a stick of parsley for the pumpkin stalk.
Cheese crackers
Choose your favourite savoury biscuits or crackers and top them with ghost shaped cheese cut outs. Slice some cheddar or your favourite hard cheese and then cut out little ghosts. Use poppy seeds to make the eyes and mouth.
Banana treats
Slice a banana in and then slice along the middle. Insert a wooden stick in the banana and freeze. Now coat with white chocolate. Add milk chocolate eyes and freeze again.
Healthy candy corn
Instead of all that sugar, choose fruit instead! Chop up some pineapple and place it in a whisky glass, add some chopped oranges or similar citrus fruit and then top with some fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Fun apples
Slice an apple into quarters and then cut away a piece of the outer edge (in the middle) to create a wide open mouth. Add candy or chocolate eyes, a slice of strawberry for the tongue, and a few small pieces of white candy for the teeth.
