After a celebration or party, it’s not uncommon to find some leftover bubbly in a bottle or two. What a shame when all those bubbles are gone and you’re left with a rather unpleasant form of wine that nobody wants to drink. The good news is that you need not let your champagne go to waste! Here are some great ways to put it to good use!
Champagne vinegar
This is easy to make by simply pouring flat champagne in a jar and secure cheesecloth to the top before allowing it to stand for about four or five weeks. Once the process is complete, you will have a delicious vinegar for your delicious summer salad! Remember to taste the vinegar after a few weeks and check regularly thereafter until you are happy with the result.
Sangria
If you want to make a white sangria, you can skip the white wine and use your leftover champagne instead. Since there are no more bubbles, you don’t need to worry about changing the recipe too much. Just make sure that you taste your sangria before adding any sugar because champagne is known for being sweeter than most types of wine.
Popsicles
If you have a Popsicle tray or two, you can make your own champagne based popsicles! Simply mix ¼ cup of water with ¾ cup of sugar and heat to dissolve the sugar. Allow this mixture to cool before mixing it with a bottle of champagne. If you like, you can add some edible flowers to each mold before pouring the mixture and freezing.
