Summer is just around the corner and now is the time to get back into shape after the long winter. It’s absolutely normal to put on a few pounds during the colder months. However, when the temperature rises, we all want to look our best in our summer clothing. Here are some fabulous foods to help you kick start your weight loss journey.

Beans

If you are looking for fabulous foods that will help you feel full without you having to eat a lot or spend a lot on groceries? Beans are the answer! Now, instead of buying baked beans, you should choose uncooked or regular canned beans instead. You can make your own bean stew or even add them to your favourite salad.

Soup

Nutritious, comforting and a fantastic starter or main course. Make sure that you only make both-based soups rather than those with cream. You can still make a creamy soup by cooking and blending your vegetables. You can even blend meat along with the veggies. The key to these recipes is to boil all of your ingredients before removing most of the liquid. Puree the vegetables and meat while adding liquid slowly until you reach the desired consistency.

Dark chocolate

If you are in the mood for something sweet, you still have the option of enjoying dark chocolate. As opposed to milk chocolate, it contains significantly less sugar and fewer calories. Not only this, but dark chocolate is also on this list of fabulous foods because it contains some antioxidants and other beneficial properties.

Yogurt with berries

As tempting as it might be to buy fruit yogurt, there is a better alternative. Buy some low fat, high protein plain yogurt and add your own fresh berries to the mix. Only add to your bowl before you tuck in. Berries don’t have a particularly long shelf life so you don’t want them to go bad inside the yogurt.

Nuts

Like dark chocolate, nuts are a fabulous foods when it comes to choosing a healthy snack. Remember, you shouldn’t eat the entire bag. Too much of a good thing doesn’t help when it comes to weight loss. So make sure that you limit your daily helpings. Nuts make excellent snacks in between meals.

Apples

Not only are apples rich in vitamins, but they can also be enjoyed in so many ways. They are sweet but don’t contain too much sugar. This is why so many conscientious bakers use applesauce instead of sugar in their baked dishes.

These are just a few fabulous foods that you can easily incorporate in your diet. Other power foods that are low in calories include broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage. Root veggies often have more carbohydrates which means that they will prove higher in calories.
