Cakes cane be frozen for up to six months if they are not frosted. A frosted cake can be frozen for up to three months. If it is frosted, place it uncovered in the freezer first. Once the frosting is hard, you can cover the cake and place it back in the freezer. Unfrosted cakes should be thawed covered for about two or three hours at room temperature. Frosted cakes should be thawed covered in the fridge overnight. When freezing food like cake, you should avoid freezing those with egg-white frosting or a custard filling.

Cookies

Freezing food like cookies is really handy because you can make a big batch and simply defrost portions as needed. Unbaked cookies can be frozen for up to six months. Baked cookies can be stored for up to twelve months if unfrosted, but only two months if frosted.

Unbaked fruit pies

Unbaked pies with fruit fillings can be stored for up to four months. Thaw them out and warm if desired. When freezing food of this variety, make sure that you do not slit the top crust. Freeze them level before wrapping.

Baked fruit pies

If your fruit pies are baked, you can store them for up to four months. Partially thaw the uwrapped pies at room temperature for approximately 15 minutes. Warm them up in your oven for 30 – 45 minutes. Pecan pies should be thawed in your fridge and warmed if desired.
