With the warmer weather on its way, now is the time to make the most of all that fresh fruit. Not to mention the fact that we tend to crave more refreshing desserts during this time of year. Here are some great fruit dessert ideas that you and your children will love!
Strawberry sundaes
This is a super simple fruit dessert. All you need is a few large strawberries, ice cream, glazed cherries, sprinkles and chocolate topping. Hollow out the strawberries as best you can. Fill them with ice cream. Add sprinkles and chocolate sauce before topping with a cherry.
Fruit pops
You can use various types of fruit to make delicious fruit pops. All you need is to cut the fruit to the suitable size so that you can insert a popsicle stick. To secure the stick in place, you can dip it in some melted chocolate first. Insert and refrigerate for a few minutes until the chocolate has set. When you are ready, partially dip each fruit pop into the chocolate and decorate with sprinkles before you set to dry.
Jelly ships
If you want something really fun, you can make some fruit jelly and fill some orange peels. Cut your oranges in half and remove the fruit. Mix your jelly and, if you like, you can add pieces of fresh fruit too. Fill your orange peels and refrigerate. Once solid, you can cut each half in half again. Create sails using colourful paper and toothpicks. Place your sail in the middle of each of your ships and serve!
Caramel and coconut apples
Core your apples and cut them into thick slices. Mix together canned caramel and coconut in a bowl. In another bowl, melt choc chips with a bit of butter and mix well. Spread the caramel mixture on top of each apple slice and drizzle chocolate over the top. This fruit dessert is on the sweeter side which makes it a comforting treat that everyone will enjoy.
Banana split on a stick
Much like the fruit pops, you can place banana halves on popsicle sticks before dipping them halfway in chocolate. Add sprinkles and top with whipped cream and a glazed cherry. This is delicious fruit dessert perfect for summer and kids on the go.
Banana and cinnamon bites
Slice bananas (make sure they are thick slices) and heat some coconut oil in a pan. Place your banana slices in the pan and sprinkle cinnamon sugar over them. Turn them over and allow to cook. During this time, you can sprinkle cinnamon sugar over the other side. When ready, flip and cook the other side before serving. You can also dip them in some melted chocolate if you like. This is a wonderful fruit dessert for cooler summer nights.
There you have it! A few delicious fruit desserts that your whole family will enjoy. They are so easy that you will love making them too! If you have a busy household with kids running in and out, these are also affordable since you don’t need too many ingredients to make a scrumptious treat.
