Salad tastes that much better with the right dressing. Unfortunately, there are a number of unhealthy dressings out there and many people end up topping a healthy meal with an unhealthy dressing. Here are some healthy alternatives.
Greek yogurt ranch
- ¾ cup Greek yogurt
- 1 clove garlic (minced) or 1 tsp garlic powder
- ¼ cup parsley (fresh minced) or 1 Tbsp dried parsley
- ¼ medium onion diced or 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 Tbsp minced chives or 1 Tbsp dried chives
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp dijon mustard
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- ¼ cup – ½ cup buttermilk
Place all of the ingredients in a jar. Place the lid on tightly and shake well. You could use a food processor or blender if you prefer. Once combined, you then need to refrigerate for about 2 hours before serving.
Italian Salad Dressing
- 2/3 cup virgin olive oil
- ¼ cup red wine vinegar
- 3 Tbsp parmesan (finely grated)
- 1 Tbsp parsley (fresh minced) or 1 Tbsp dried parsley
- ¼ medium onion (diced) or 2 tsp onion powder
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp fresh basil (minced) or 2 Tbsp dried basil
- 1 Tbsp minced oregano or 2 Tbsp dried oregano
- 1 garlic clove (minced) or 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Mix all the ingredients together using your blender, food processor, or jar with a tight-fitting lid. Once blended, refrigerate for about 2 hours before serving.
Lemon Vinegrette
- ¼ cup red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp dijon mustard
- ½ cup virgin olive oil
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 1 garlic clove minced or 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp fresh minced oregano or 2 Tbsp dried oregano
Combine all of the ingredients in a blender, food processor, or jar with a tight-fitting lid. Shake or blend well before refrigerating for 2 hours. Once chilled, you can enjoy. Always mix well before drizzling over your salad.
