Hummus is a delicious and nutritious treat that can be enjoyed in so many different ways! It’s a healthier substitute for many other options like sauces and spreads. One of the most common misconceptions, however, is that hummus is difficult to make. Here is an easy hummus recipe that will have your friends begging for more!
Ingredients:

  • 400g can chickpeas
  • 100ml lemon juice
  • 150ml olive oil
  • 125g tahini
  • 1 ½ teaspoon ground coriander
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • pine nuts (toasted)
  • sumac

Method:

  • Drain the chickpeas but don’t throw the liquid away. Keep it in a bowl or cup and set aside.
  • Gently warm the chickpeas in the microwave.
  • Put the chickpeas in a food processor along with the lemon juice, olive oil, tahini, coriander, and crushed cardamom seeds.
  • Blend the ingredients until smooth.
  • If the mixture looks a bit dry, you can add some of the liquid from the chickpeas.
  • Check the flavour and add more lemon and oil to taste.
  • Place a portion in a bowl and sprinkle with toasted pine nuts and sumac before serving.
