More often than not, when we think about parents raising kids, we imagine mum doing most of the ‘heavy lifting’. Dad, on the other hand is usually the one who heads off to work to earn the money needed to support his family. Just because mum is usually more hands on, does not mean that dad does not play an extremely important role. Which is all the more reason to celebrate Father’s Day and show him that you appreciate all of his hard work over the years.
Just like you spoil mum on Mother’s Day, so too should you spoil dad on Father’s Day. This means that he should not be allowed to lift a finger and he should be pampered all day long with all of his favourite things!
Start the day with some delicious breakfast in bed. Think about all of your father’s favourite breakfast foods and serve them on a tray with some fresh juice, coffee or both. Remember, you should include something savoury to start and a sweet treat like a scone as a breakfast dessert. You can also present him with a fun floral display along with his morning meal. Remember, if you know that dad prefers sitting at the table for meals, you could set the table instead. Place his flower arrangement in the middle and enjoy breakfast together.
For something sentimental, you can work together to make a special video tribute. Add photos, videos, music, and whatever you like to make the video extra special. This video is your way of showing him all the special times over the years and how he supported, cared for, and loved his family.
If you want to get out for a few hours, you can visit his favourite restaurant or cafe for lunch. Alternatively, weather permitting, you could enjoy a family picnic. If you prefer spending the day at home, you could always stock up on his favourite snacks and enjoy his favourite movies together. Remember – make it all about him for the entire day!
