Jam is usually made from a single type of fruit. However, if you have a variety of fruit in your kitchen and you want to use it before it goes bad, you can make your own mixed fruit jam! Here’s how:
Ingredients:

  • 2 apples (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 oranges (peeled and chopped)
  • 7 strawberries (chopped)
  • 2 bananas (peeled and chopped)
  • 6 plums (peeled and chopped)
  • 1 pineapple (peeled and chopped)
  • ½ Tbsp lime juice
  • 1 ½ cup sugar

Method:

  • Place all of the fruit in a blender and mix until you have a smooth puree.
  • Cook the puree and sugar together in a saucepan on medium heat. Stir constantly.
  • Reduce the heat and allow the puree to simmer until it thickens. Stir regularly.
  • Add the lime juice once the jam starts to get particularly thick.
  • Continue cooking on low heat until the jam thickens again. This usually takes about 90 minutes.
  • Stop cooking once your jam reaches the desired consistency.
  • Pour into jars and store in a cool, dry place.

This recipe is flexible and you can add additional fruit or substitute some fruits if you prefer. Just remember to always peel the fruit because the skins are too tough to puree.
