We usually choose the easy way and buy bread from a nearby shop. There are, however, a number of easy bread recipes and they include yeast-free recipes too. While this might seem like an odd concept, yeast-free bread is actually really delicious! Here is an easy recipe to follow:
Ingredients:

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups rice milk or water
  • ¼ cup liquid fat such as melted margarine (milk free) or oil

Method:

  • Mix all of the dry ingredients together.
  • Remember NOT to sift the flour.
  • Mix the liquid ingredients together in a separate bowl.
  • Add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture
  • Mix until there isn’t any dry flour left in the bowl.
  • Depending on the humidity level in your area/home, you might need to add more or less liquid.
  • When ready, the dough should be moist but it should not be sticky. Don’t overwork the dough.
  • Remember not to rush the mixing process. Sometimes the flour takes time to absorb the liquid and you don’t want to make the dough too wet.
  • Shape the dough and then score the surface lightly in an X or diamond shape to prevent the crust from splitting.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F and bake for 40 minutes.
  • If you like, you can rub the dough with olive oil and sprinkle oregano and sea salt on top before baking. Alternatively, you can sprinkle with seeds like sunflower seeds.
  • When cutting this bread, remember to cut thicker slices.
