When it comes to romantic foods and sweet treats, chocolate strawberries are most definitely at least one of the first treats to come to mind. The best part of all is that they are so easy to make and they will always be enjoyed. The recipe also calls for just a couple of ingredients.
Start by washing your strawberries thoroughly to remove any impurities. Once they are washed, you should place them on some paper towels and continue to gently pat each one dry with more paper towels. You don’t want to leave any water on the strawberries since this will cause the chocolate to sieze.
Now that your strawberries are ready, it’s time to prepare a tray. Baking pans and trays all work well. You should line the tray with non-stick baking sheets to prevent the freshly dipped strawberries from sticking to the pan.
Melt some chocolate in a pot using the double boiler method. This is best since the heat is relatively low and steady which means that there is far less risk of burning the chocolate. Make sure that no water (not even a drop) gets into the chocolate or it will sieze.
Dip your strawberries in the chocolate and make sure that they are completely coated before placing on the lined tray. You might want to allow some excess chocolate to drip off too. You don’t want puddles of chocolate stuck to each strawberry.
Allow your strawberries to set at room temperature. Refrigerating chocolate will affect the flavour and texture. In addition, once you remove the tray from the fridge, they will start to “sweat” which is not appealing for several reasons. Pair your chocolate covered strawberries with some fruity bubbly and don’t forget to light those candles too!
