There are few things more romantic than sharing a meal with your partner or spouse on Valentine’s Day. If you are trying to come up with the perfect meal or menu, here are some scrumptious cheese dishes for two!
Cheese Quesadillas are delicous and there are a number of optional extras that you can add if you like. You can leave them plain if you like or you can add chicken, beef, or even vegetables! Simply pick up some tortillas, fill them and cook them. Serve with your choice of salsa, gaucamole, and sour cream. Simply place all of the quesadillas on a plate in the middle of the table along with the various side items and perhaps a bowl of salad. This way, you can help yourselves to as many as you like.
For something particularly comforting, you can choose to make a cheesy broccoli bake. Simply cook up some chicken (chopped into cubes) with onion and garlic. Add chicken broth, uncooked rice, and a splash of heavy cream. Allow to simmer until the rice is cooked and add more liquid if necessary. Add broccoli and cheddar to the pot. Once the cheese is melted and the broccoli is cooked, you can then sprinkle some bread crumbs over the top and broil until crispy.
A cheese fondue is also great for sharing. Think about all the items that taste good with cheese. Some examples include broccoli, cauliflower, chicken, beef, pork, potatoes, and just about any vegetable! Make a pot of delicious cheese dipping sauce and place it on a warmer so that it does not get cold. You might want to serve half of the sauce and top it up later if necessary. Place all of the dipping items around the pot of sauce and enjoy!
If you want to enjoy a light snack before going out to dinner, you could chop up a few cubes of several types of cheese. Make your own cheese platter and serve with a suitable bottle of wine. Now, there is no need to finish the whole bottle but you could each enjoy half a glass as you enjoy some cheese, crackers, and salad side items.
Broccoli and cheddar soup is so creamy and fulfilling that many people enjoy it as a main course instead of a starter! When served with garlic pita bread, you can be sure that this scrumptious dish will be a meal all on its own. Simply cook up some broccoli in chicken or vegetable stock. Add garlic and add grated cheddar. The broccoli will break up as you cook and mix this soup. This is completely normal and it allows the flavour to spread throughout the pot.
