Olives and cheese are both excellent appetizers and this recipe combines the two for the perfect delicious treat for you guests to enjoy. In fact, you may love these so much that you could even end up making these for yourself and your family.
Ingredients (enough to serve as an appetizer for up to 8 guests):

  • 8 to 10 ounce jar of green olives (pitted and plain or pimento-stuffed)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar
  • 1 cup flour (all-purpose)
  • 4 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ tsp black pepper, cayenne, or paprika

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 200° C if you are planning on baking and serving right away.
  • Drain your olives properly and use paper towels to dab them dry if need be. Set them aside.
  • Mix your cheese, butter, flour, and spices in a bowl. Knead the mixture until you have a firm dough. If the dough crumbles, add some water (1 teaspoon at a time) until the mixture holds.
  • Now take a small amount of dough, press it flat with your fingers and wrap it around one of your olives.Repeat until all of your olives are covered.
  • Now you can choose to freeze them or cook immediately.
  • When you are ready to bake them, place all of your olives on a lined baking sheet and make sure that they are spaced apart so that they don’t stick together.
  • Bake your coated olives for 15 – 20 minutes or, if frozen, you will need to bake for 20 – 25 minutes. They should be golden brown when they are done.
  • Transfer to a plate or platter and serve immediately.

Serve these olives on their own or along with other delicious appetizers to keep your guests happy while they mingle before dinner is served! If you are having a few friends over to watch the game, these are also delicious snacks to serve with an ice cold beer.
