Summer is the perfect season for detoxing and giving your immune system a much needed boost. There is a common misconception that healthy food tastes disgusting but, thanks to these fresh combinations, you can enjoy a healthy detox drink every day without having to hold your nose!
Friendly fruits
Like a fruit salad, there are a number of delicious and nutritious fresh fruits that work wonders for your health. For a simple combination, blend apple and pear together. If you like, you can add some pineapple to the mix. Grapefruit is wonderful but some might not enjoy the slight bitter taste. Add some oranges to the blend and your detox will be that much sweeter! Apple and watermelon is another yummy combo as well as cranberry, grape, and prune. Each of these fruits contain different nutrients and fibre to help flush your system. You can drink the same detox drink each day or mix it up so that you get the most variety in your diety.
Give greens a go
Combine celery with spinach, tomato, and some dill (optional) for extra flavour. Celery and spinach can also be paired with cabbage if you prefer and, again, you can add some dill if you like. Tomato, spinach, garlic, and ginger might not be for the faint of heart. If you enjoy some extra “bite” you can even toss in some cayenne pepper! Cucumber is known for working wonders in the detox department. Blend some up with celery and parsley. Add ginger if you want a bit more of a kick.
Impressive combos
Some combinations are not conventional but they certainly are beneficial and delicious! Try blending green apple, cucumber, strawberry, kale, and some mint (optional). This drink is refreshing, sweet, and will work wonders as part of your detoxification efforts. Orange, lemon, lime and some ginger if you like, will give you an extra boost of Vitamin C and so much more! Another great combo is pineapple, watermelon, orange, and spinach. Spice it up with a little cayenne if you like.
So, with all of these delicious ideas, there’s no reason not to get started on your detox today! Remember, if you are taking any medications, you should consult your doctor before starting a detox routine. Some fruits and vegetables, although completely natural, interact with certain medications and can have undesirable results.
