Smoothies are a real treat all on their own. If you want to add something different to the mix, you could add a shot or two of your favourite drink. For the most part, however, the best alcohol to add to smoothies are vodka and rum. Here are some refreshing smoothie recipes with a little something extra.
Berry smoothie

  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • A few rings of pineapple (frozen)
  • 1 banana, peeled, and halved
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/3 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/3 cup frozen cranberries
  • ½ cup ice cubes

Add all of the ingredients (in the order listed) into your blender. Start blending on the slowest speed and gradually speed up the blender until you reach the desired consistency. Add a shot or two of a light rum to your smoothie and pulse a couple of times before serving.
Mango smoothie

  • 1 orange, peeled and halved
  • ½ banana
  • ½ mango, peeled and pitted
  • ½ apple, seeded and cored
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Add all of the ingredients (in the order listed) to your blender. Start on a slow speed and work your way up to the top speed or until you reach the desired consistency. Add a shot or two of rum, preferably light, and pulse a few times before pouring and serving.
Creamy berry smoothie

  • ½ cup vanilla yogurt
  • 1 cup red grapes
  • ½ cup raspberries
  • ½ cup pineapple cubes
  • ½ cup frozen cranberries
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Place all of the ingredients together in the order tha thtey are listed and start the blender on its slowest setting. Work your way up to the top speed or until the desired consistency is reached. Add vodka and pulse a few times before you serve this delicious smoothie!
When serving these smoothies, feel free to dress them up as you would a cocktail. Add some sugar around the rim of the glass, add a thick straw and garnish with a piece of fruit or bright cocktail umbrella.
