There are many wonderful festive events that we enjoy every Christmas. From holiday desserts to Christmas flowers to festive lights, decorations are made to decorate your home inside and out. One of the best traditions is the advent calendar. Give your children something to enjoy every day as Christmas approaches. If you don’t have one, you can create your own advent calendar with just a few basics.
What you will need:
- Beaded garland approximately 9-foot long
- White and green cardboard
- Glue
- Sharp scissors
- 12 small Christmas globes
- 1 large Christmas decoration
- 12 pairs of Christmas socks in various sizes
- Green floral wire
- 24 safety pins
Steps to follow:
- The first step to creating your very own advent calendar is preparing your socks. You should either use different colours or sizes so that you can alternate between them.
- Cut circles out of the cardboard and make sure that the white circles are a little bit smaller than the green ones. You will need 24 of each.
- Glue the white circles on to the green ones.
- Write the numbers 1 to 24 on each of these pairs of white and green circles. You can even add some glitter or holiday stickers if you like.
- Place your socks in an order that either alternates according to size or colour.
- Use safety pins to hold the numbers on to each sock.
- Use floral wire to secure each sock to the garland. This will also ensure that nobody sneaks a peek!
- You can finish your design off by adding some ornaments between each of your socks.
- Hang your garland in a spot where it can be enjoyed and add to your festive décor as well.
Hang your advent calendar on the last day of November or on 1 December alongside your other merry embellishments. Regardless of whether you put your tree up yet, you can in any case embrace the occasion soul from the very outset of the long stretch of December with this calendar. Ensure that you add an exceptional gift in each sock for your kid or youngsters to appreciate. Regardless of whether you have kids, you can incorporate a gift for your companion for every day. These should be little gifts and they could in fact be desserts or chocolates. Assuming you have more than one child, you can remember two things for each sock. Simply ensure that they are indistinguishable so there are no conflicts! Then again, you can make two calendars – one for each. Once more, ensure that they get something very similar or comparable gifts every day.
