During the warmer months of the year, you might feel the need for something sweet to eat but you most likely will not enjoy the heavy, creamy desserts you loved in the winter. A light jelly dessert, on the other hand, will prove perfect for this time of year and, here are some scrumptious ideas.
Watermelon Slice Jello Shots
If you enjoy jello shots, you will love this fun jelly dessert! All you need to do is slice your watermelon in half (lengthwise) and hollow it out. Next, mix watermelon flavoured jelly or another red jelly with some water and vodka. Mix as per the jelly package instructions and fill up the melon. Allow to set in your refrigerator before serving. You can simply slice the watermelon jelly and allow your guests to help themselves. If you prefer, you can make this recipe without the vodka so that it is suitable for everyone.
Strawberry Prosecco Jelly Dessert
This jelly dessert is really simple and perfect for warm days. All you need to do is mix some strawberry jelly powder with Prosecco instead of water. If you don’t have strawberry-flavoured jelly, you can use regular gelatine and split the liquid into two-thirds Prosecco and one third strawberry juice. Of course, if you prefer peach or another flavour, you can opt for another flavour too. Pour the jelly into bowls and allow to set. Top with some fresh fruit and you’re all set!
Jelly and Custard
Another delicious jelly dessert is simple yet supremely satisfying – jelly and custard. You can buy or make your own fresh vanilla custard. Place some jelly in a dish and allow it to almost completely set in the fridge. Next, add a layer of custard and, again, allow to set before topping with more jelly. Create several layers and finish by topping with fresh whipped cream. You can add some fresh or canned fruit cubes to the top if you like.
Not only are these jelly dessert ideas quick and easy to make, but they are also really delicious. You can make them ahead of time so that you don’t have to worry about spending time in the kitchen when you should be entertaining your guests.
