For whisky lovers, the idea of leftover whisky must seem quite foreign. Of course, if you have recently entertained some guests and you have some whisky left in the bottle, you can still put it to great use. Here are some amazing recipes to try.

Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • Approximately 600g shrimp
  • Half a bottle of whisky
  • Butter
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Fresh dill
  • 6 tablespoons of Crème Fraiche

Directions:

  • Start by melting the butter in a pan before adding the shrimps and garlic. You can add more or less garlic depending on your preferences.
  • After the shrimp is browned, you can add the leftover whisky.
  • Light the whisky on fire and allow the whisky to burn out.
  • Next, add the Crème Fraiche and dill.
  • Serve this scrumptious dish with a selection of trimmings of your choosing (salad is great).

Steak and whisky infused sauce

Ingredients:

  • 150ml double cream
  • 1 handful of diced button mushrooms
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • enough whisky to cover the pan’s surface
  • 2 delicious steaks

Directions:

  • Prepare your steaks and cook them as per your usual preferences.
  • Set the steaks in an ovenproof dish in the oven to keep warm.
  • Fry up the diced mushrooms in the same pan you used to fry the steaks.
  • Pour the leftover whisky over the mushrooms and allow to cool.
  • Add the double cream and Dijon mustard once the pan has cooled.
  • Add these juices to the steaks in the oven.
  • Serve with your choice of trimmings.
  • This recipe serves two so you can multiply it if you are serving more guests.

Bourbon Balls

Ingredients:

  • Approximately 12 ounces of vanilla wafers (crushed)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 2 ½ tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar (and extra for rolling in)
  • ½ cup whisky (or more if you like)

Directions:

  • Combine the nuts, wafers, powdered sugar and cocoa in a large bowl before mixing well.
  • Mix the leftover whisky and corn syrup together and mix well.
  • Pour this whisky mixture over the wafer mixture and combine.
  • Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls.
  • Roll these balls in powdered sugar.
  • You can store in the fridge, in a sealed container, for up to 2 weeks.
