While some desserts are better suited for cold weather and others for the summer, there are also those that taste delicious no matter the time of year. Apple cobbler is one such example. This sweet treat is warm and comforting for the cooler months but it is also light and fruity which makes it great for warmer weather too. The best part of all is that it is so easy to make by following this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 3 large granny smith apples (peeled and sliced)

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1 cup of flour (all purpose)

  • half a cup of butter (melted)

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 1 large egg

Directions:

  • Before you begin making this apple cobbler, you will need to prepare an 8×8 inch baking dish by greasing it properly.

  • In a bowl, mix together the flour, egg, sugar and cinnamon until it looks like course cornmeal.

  • Place the slices of apple in the bottom of your baking dish.

  • Sprinkle the flour mixture over the sliced apples.

  • Pour the melted butter over the top as evenly as possible.

  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes

  • Once ready, serve warm with some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired.

If it is really warm outside, you can always enjoy this apple cobbler at room temperature or even chilled. It is also good to note that, while apples are refreshing and delicious, you can use other types of fruit if you prefer. Of course, if you do, it’s best not to add cinnamon since this potent spice does not pair well with all fruits.
