Halloween is coming up and now is the time to start planning your spooky menu. Even if you don’t plan on hosting a dinner or any kind of special event, you can still at least make some sweet treats. If you are invited to a dinner, these Halloween cake pops are great to take along too! Plus, they are super easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 100g Madeira cake (or sponge cake)
  • 100g Oreo cookies
  • 100g milk chocolate
  • 200g white chocolate
  • Smarties
  • Icing pens (black and red in particular)
  • Skewers or lollipop sticks
  • Pumpkin or other suitable holder

Directions:

  • Start by crumbling the cake and cookies together in a bowl.
  • Add the melted milk chocolate and whizz together in your food processor to combine.
  • Roll the mixture into 10 balls and chill in the fridge until firm (about 2 hours).
  • Dip your skewer in some white chocolate and then insert in the cake pop ball.
  • Allow to chill again to ensure that the stick has set in place.
  • Now it’s time to dip your cake pops in the white chocolate. Make sure you allow the excess to drip away.
  • Once dipped, place in a temporary holder like a short glass until the chocolate hardens.
  • Dip one Smartie in the melted chocolate and stick it to the cake pop.
  • Once set, use black icing to create the pupil and red icing to create some veins on your eyeball.
  • When they are all done and set, you can arrange them in a decorative vase or holder for serving your deliciously spooky Halloween cake pops!

As you can see, this recipe is really simple. Just make sure that you set enough time aside to make them since they do need time to set. Setting also requires that the room is not too hot and you do not want to refrigerate after they have been dipped or they could ‘sweat’ when you take them out again. If you want to make more than 10 Halloween cake pops, simply multiply this recipe by the number you wish to create.
