If you love the idea of combining fruit with chocolate, then you need to try these delicious chocolate-coated apple slices! Not only are they easy to make, but they are delicious and you can get really creative while decorating them.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs apples
  • 1 1/12 cups sugar
  • 2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 12 oz semisweet chocolate (chopped)
  • Sprinkles to decorate

Directions:

  • Preheat your oven to 225F.
  • Wash and dry your apples thoroughly before coring them.
  • Line a baking sheet or two with parchment paper.
  • Slice the apples crosswise to create rings.
  • In a shallow dish, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Dip the apple slices in this cinnamon and sugar mixture. Make sure that you coat both sides and shake off any excess.
  • Place your coated apple slices on the lined baking sheets. Make sure that they do not overlap one another.
  • Bake for 90 minutes before turning and baking for a further 60 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven once the apples are dry and just a little bit shriveled.
  • Place the slices on cooling racks and allow to cool completely.
  • Use a double boiler to melt your chocolate. Stir while the chocolate is melting to get rid of any lumps.
  • When the chocolate is melted, dip the apple slices and allow excess chocolate to drip off. You will only dip the slices halfway so don’t worry, you won’t get your fingers full of chocolate.
  • Place the coated slices on some wax paper and decorate with sprinkles while the chocolate is still in a melted state. Once it hardens, you can no longer decorate.

As you can see, they are super easy to make and you only need a few basic ingredients. It is best to make these in larger batches because they will be eaten up faster that you know it! If you need to store them overnight, place them in an airtight container.
