Do you have a friend or loved one who is celebrating their birthday on or near Christmas? So many times, these two occasions are combined and a single gift is sent instead of celebrating them separately. Here are some ways in which you can make a Christmas birthday special this year.

Birthday gift

The first thing you need to do is make sure that you find the perfect birthday gift for their Christmas birthday. Yes, you should still shop for a Christmas gift, but you should buy a birthday gift too. The birthday gift should not have a Christmas theme whatsoever! Make sure that it has nothing to do with the season or seasonal traditions.

Birthday celebrations

While your table might already be set with Christmas décor, you can easily add some colourful balloons and birthday decorations. Remove the festive centrepiece and place a fresh fruit display instead, for example. Just because they are celebrating a Christmas birthday does not mean that they should be forced to endure the same red, green and white colour scheme year in and year out. Brighten it up with their favourite colour. You can leave the green and white elements but perhaps add some pink or purple for a change. Once the birthday celebrations are over, you can remove the birthday décor and replace it with your Christmas accessories.

Set aside time just for them

Make sure that you set aside some time just for them. It is best to plan this ahead of time too. For example, you could celebrate Christmas Eve and follow it with a birthday breakfast. This will set their Christmas birthday apart from the rest of the festivities. Once they have been celebrated, you can enjoy the rest of the day by celebrating the two occasions together. The key is to set aside at least a few hours (or one meal) just for them.

Make it a big deal

When celebrating a Christmas birthday, make sure that you make a big deal about it. Don’t simply allow it to be an afterthought. In other words, you need to make the celebration and their gift so special that they will feel that they are being celebrated and it’s not simply an extension of the usual festivities.

When shopping for a Christmas birthday gift, make sure that you budget just as you would if their birthday was earlier in the year. Look for goodies that they will enjoy or even something that you know they need. Practical and thoughtful gifts show the recipient that you didn’t just shop in a hurry.
