Manhattan
Ingredients:
- 50ml bourbon or rye whisky
- 25ml sweet red vermouth
- A few dashes of bitters
- A cocktail cherry or two to garnish
Method:
- This is one of the easiest of all whisky cocktail recipes. All you need to do is place your whisky, vermouth and bitters in a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Stir well before straining into a coupe glass.
- Garnish with cherries and enjoy!
Old Fashioned
Ingredients:
- 100g light brown sugar
- A few dashes of bitters
- 3 Tbsp bourbon or rye whisky
- Orange twist to garnish
Method:
- This is a truly classic whisky cocktail and it is worth all the effort. Start by heating the sugar along with 100ml of water in a pan.
- Stir and heat gently until the sugar disolves.
- Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature. If you make extra, you can store it in the fridge for a week or two.
- Add 3 tablespoons of the syrup to an old fashioned glass.
- Add the bitters to the glass and stir well.
- Now add ice cubes and pour the whisky over the top.
- Stir well and garnish with an orange peel before you serve.
Whisky Sour
Ingredients:
- 100g light brown sugar
- 50ml bourbon
- 25ml lemon juice
- 1 egg white
Method:
- Just like the Old Fashioned whisky cocktail recipe, you will need to begin by making your syrup. Add the sugar and 100ml of water to a pan.
- Heat gently and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Allow the syrup to cool.
- Add the bourbon, egg white, lemon juice and 25ml of the sugar syrup to a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well for about 30 seconds.
- Strain into an old fashioned glass and serve right away.
