An Easter egg hunt does not necessarily mean that you have to leave your home. With just a touch of creativity, you can make this yet another fun year for everyone involved. While the kids will get a real kick out of searching, adults get to look on and enjoy their excitement. So, here are some ideas to make it a memorable experience for everyone.
Creating clues
You can drop some clues here and there to let the kids know where they should look. A few flower petals here and there will help attract their attention. Another way to help them out is by playing hot and cold. Provide different parents with different maps that indicate the locations of all the hidden goodies. Parents can use the map to play the ‘hot or cold’ game.
What to hide
While we love think of an Easter egg hunt as a search for chocolates, you can also make use of some fun alternatives. Examples include stickers, hair accessories, small toys and other trinkets that kids love to collect.
Glow in the dark
If you want to have some fun after dark, you can hide eggs along with glow sticks and let the kids search at night instead of during the day. This is not only great for your yard but you can also do it inside your home.
Keeping it fair
If you are worried about one child getting more than another, you can use colour codes. Assign a colour for each child and tag the eggs in different colours. This way, the kids can work together during the Easter egg hunt and there is no way that anyone will feel left out.
Scavenger hunt
This requires a bit of planning but it is extra fun. All you need to do is plan where to hide several clues. Each clue leads to the next one until they reach the treasure at the end. You can create teams and allow them to split the treasure equally. You should also make sure that each team follows clues in a different order so that they don’t simply follow one another.
These are just a few great ideas to make your Easter egg hunt extra fun for everyone. Remember, if you are not able to celebrate with your loved ones this year, you can always send a thoughtful gift in the form of an Easter hamper.
