If you want to make Mother’s Day truly special, you need to think about something that you can do together as a family. The activity or activities that you choose will mostly depend on the age of your children. You want to make sure that everyone has a good time – especially mum.
Babies
Planning fun activities for Mother’s Day when you have an infant is not always easy. Firstly, you need to consider the baby and, secondly, you need to consider how comfortable mum will be. If you want to go out for the day and baby needs formula, you will need to take hot water, bottles and everything along for the day. This might sound easy but it can be tricky and exhausting. Mum may not want to go out and she may prefer spending the day at home. If this is the case, you can take care of the chores like cooking and cleaning. You could even order food instead of cooking so that you can spend time together.
Young children
If you have young children, you might like to take them out for the day and enjoy some age appropriate activities. If there is a park nearby, you may enjoy watching them play before visiting a restaurant or cafe where you can enjoy a light meal. It does not need to be a long trip out since toddlers can be particularly exhausting, but you can at least get out and about for a couple of hours.
Older children and teens
Older children may prefer activities like adventure parks, a trip to the movies or a delicious lunch together. Perhaps a round of miniature golf or a similar activity will keep everyone entertained. Make sure that the activity you choose is something that everyone can enjoy – especially mum. If there are any family members who do not enjoy a particular activity, it can ruin Mother’s Day for everyone.
Adult children
As a mother, your children will always be your children – even when they are all grown up. However, you will find that their interests will change as they mature and this means that you can enjoy more relaxing activities as they get older. So, a formal dinner for Mother’s Day could be just what everyone will enjoy. You could even get multiple families together to make it a greater celebration. Consider inviting grandma too since this is the day for celebrating all mothers.
While planning Mother’s Day activities, don’t forget to plan you gift too! Even if you are strapped for cash this year, fresh flowers, chocolates and balloons are always an excellent choice.
