When one of your friends or a loved one is in hospital, it’s always a good idea to offer your support as much as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot always visit our sick friends and family for a number of reasons. If this is the case, you can still let them know that you care by sending the most thoughtful hospital gifts. If you are not sure what to choose, here are some ideas.

Boost their mood

No matter the gift you choose, make sure that it looks great. When the gift looks good, it will impress the recipient as soon as it arrives. Much like a fresh bouquet of flowers, hospital gifts that are bright and colourful will improve the recipient’s mood and this is great for the healing process. The mind and body are very much connected so you want to help support and encourage healing by improving their mood.

Avoid alcohol

This should go without saying, but when sending hospital gifts, you should avoid alcohol. Make sure that you take the time to read the contents list of the gift basket or hamper and check for any alcoholic beverages. By sending alcohol to a patient in recovery, it can be considered thoughtless and even rude. So do take care when selecting a gift.

Ask about their diet

If you want to surprise the recipient but you also want to make sure that you don’t send the wrong goodies, you can always have a chat with their doctor or appropriate medical staff. Let them know the name of the patient and ask them if there are any dietary restrictions. If there are many restrictions, ask about sending something like a fresh fruit basket. Another great option is a pamper hamper. Just make sure that the gift includes products that the recipient can enjoy while still at hospital and not only those that they will make use of at home (like bath bombs).

Always put the needs of the recipient first when selecting hospital gifts. This will ensure that they can really enjoy the goodies you send without worrying about any medical implications. It will also show them just how thoughtful and considerate you are regarding their health and well-being.
