Years ago, the perfect romantic date was a private picnic at a pretty spot. These days, we seem to have created the most complicated ideas of romance when all it really takes is the simple things in life. Spending quality time with your partner or spouse is the best way to keep romance alive. Even if you have been married for years, you should still have some time alone with your spouse every now and then at least. Picnics are a lovely way of doing this without spending a lot of money. If you are concerned about the weather, here are some ways in which you can enjoy a picnic no matter the weather outside.
At home
Indoor picnics are romantic and fun. They go against the grain a little which is what makes them so romantic and enjoyable. You should still take the time to pack a picnic basket with all of the usual goodies. Lay down a blanket on the floor and enjoy your meal together just as you would if you were at a nearby garden or park. If it is chilly and you have a fireplace, you could light a fire. Not only will it help keep you warm, but it will also provide the most romantic lighting in the room.
In your car
If you really want to get out of the house for a bit, you can always enjoy a picnic in your car. Again, you will need to pack all of the usual picnic goodies in a basket and drive to your favourite scenic spot. Park the car and enjoy your picnic lunch or dinner together. Remember to have some blankets in the vehicle, just in case it gets chilly and you don’t want to leave the engine running while you are parked. An added bonus would be to park near an ice cream shop so that you can go grab an ice cream together after enjoying your food. If the weather clears up, you can always take a stroll together too.
On your patio
If you want the outdoor experience but you don’t want to leave home, you may enjoy patio picnics. Undercover or enclosed patios are perfect because you are protected from the rain and other elements. You will need to consider a source of heat and, just like the ideas mentioned above, pack your basket just as you would for a regular picnic.
There are so many ways of enjoying picnics without leaving your home or even from the comfort of your own car. Remember, it’s not about where you go or what you eat but rather spending quality time together and talking about anything and everything that’s on your mind.
