Fresh fruit is not only a delicious treat, but it’s also a healthy way of laying off the sweets and processed sugar. Of course, not all of us are really making the most of our favourite fruits. These fruit hacks are just what you need to change your fruit eating experience.
Easy ice cream
With just four or more bananas, you can make some delicious one-ingredient ice cream. Peal the bananas, freeze them until almost frozen solid and then blend them together until smooth.
Strawberry stem removal
Do you hate throwing away so much of those delicious strawberries just because you had to cut off the stems? Now you don’t have to! Just use a straw to pop them out and only discard what you have to.
Watermelon bowl
Do you want to serve a colourful and delicious fruit bowl? Well, instead of using an actual bowl, you can cut a watermelon on half (lengthwise) and hollow it out. Fill with your favourite chopped fruits. To keep it all nice and cold, place some ice packs inside at the bottom. Just make sure that they are the sealed variety so that you don’t end up making fruit soup.
Fast dried fruit
You can dry your own fruit by baking in your oven at 130 – 160 degrees Fahrenheit. Plums, pears, bananas and apples take about 6 hours to dry. Grapes and oranges take between 8 and 10 hours. As for strawberries and cherries, these take about 12 hours to dry.
Ripen avocados
If you want to ripen your avocados quicker, place them next to a banana or even a bunch. They will ripen faster due to the fact that bananas release a kind of gas that causes ripe fruit and fresh flowers to perish. However, when the fruit is not yet ripe, bananas help ripen them.
Fresh squeezed
This is one of the most interesting of all fruit hacks. If you want to squeeze a lemon, lime or orange but you don’t have a squeezer, you can always place the fruit half in a pair of tongs and squeeze!
Mini caramel apples
If you love caramel apples but they are just too big for you to handle, try making mini ones using your melon baller! Cut out balls of apple with the skin. Place a stick inside and then dip just as you would regular caramel apples.
Now that you know all about these amazing fruit hacks, you can enjoy them whenever you like and surprise your friends too! It will be a great way of showing them just how skilled you are when it comes to fruity surprises.
