As a new mother, life can be particularly overwhelming. Everything is different now that your little one has arrived. There is so much more that needs to be done and very little time in which to do it all. Not to mention the lack of sleep! If you want to spoil a new mum, here are some great practical new baby gifts that she will love.

Clothing

When buying clothing for a newborn baby it is important to remember just how fast they grow. Many parents choose to buy everything they need for the new baby until they reach about 3 months old. As baby grows, he or she will need new clothes. This is where you come in. Instead of focusing on newborn clothing, try shopping around for the 3 to 6 month range. Mum and dad surely do not have much (if anything) for this age and it will usually mean that baby will get even more use out of these items. Take note of the current and future weather patterns when selecting a larger outfit. You don’t want to send a winter outfit that they will only fit into during the warmer months.

Teething Toys

Baby might not start teething for a while but all that drool can begin as early as two months. You want mum to be prepared so make sure that baby has at least one teething toy to sooth those swollen gums.

Blankets Are Great Baby Gifts

Blankets can be thin or thick. Even in summer the new baby will need at least a thin blanket to keep them comfortable when they sleep or nap. Accidents and spitting up can lead to plenty of laundry which is all the more reason to make sure mum has extra blankets. You can even have the blanket personalised by embroidering the name or initials of the baby on one of the corners.

Bibs

Bibs and full clothing protectors will always come in handy. Any mother knows that you can never have too many! Larger bibs are usually preferred because they offer more protection. Clothing protectors have sleeves and are for when baby begins with solids.

Something for mum

Now that you have all of these practical items in mind for baby, what about mum? She needs some pampering too! A good pamper hamper for her is what she needs to feel like her old self once again. You can include some non-alcoholic bubbly for mum and dad to share if you like.

Remember, new baby hampers often have a wide variety of lovely items specially selected for baby. As soon as the little one arrives, it’s a good idea to spoil them as well as their happy parents.
