Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and, if you want to turn an ordinary evening into something your partner will remember, you need to pull out all the stops! Now, one common mistake that people make is they imagine that romance equals a very low bank balance. The truth is that if you plan properly, you can enjoy amazing romance on a budget!
Set the scene
Start by selecting the perfect spot. This could be your dining room, living room, patio with a view of the garden or even outdoors if it’s not too cold. Once you have chosen the location for your romantic dinner, it’s time to plan the décor. Fresh flowers, candles, and other soft lighting are excellent. Consider fairy lights if possible and transform the room into a magical forest. If you really want to go all out, you can purchase or pick some dried branches. Set them up in bunches around the room and then decorate them with fairy lights. If you suspend some light fabric like tule to cover the ceiling, you can also attach some vines like ivy as well as twinkling lights. A few flowers here and there will more than suffice. Consider using white and pink blooms rather than red since they will look better in the dim lighting. You can save those red roses to present to your Valentine instead! Set the table or lay down a comfortable picnic blanket and add a touch of décor in the form of a candle and a small flower arrangement.
Plan your meal
This really is up to you and will depend on your personal preferences. You can cook or order in if you prefer. Many people like to order a selection of foods from their favourite restaurant so that they can enjoy a mini buffet with their partner. If this is you, then make sure that you place your food order in advance and confirm it on the day just to be safe. Don’t forget to plan the beverages too! You might like to start the evening off with some bubbly but you may prefer an Irish Coffee or something similar after your meal.
Add some music
Whether you are indoors or outside, you can still enjoy some soft music. Make sure that you select a playlist and allow the music to play softly. Think about songs that you both love or even just some easy listening so that you don’t have complete silence.
How about a gift?
Last but certainly not least, you should also plan to give your Valentine a small gift at least. A bouquet of romantic flowers is an excellent place to start and your florist may even be able to include some luxury chocolates, a stuffed animal, a scented candle or something along these lines.
Don’t forget to turn your phones off (if possible) so that you can avoid any unnecessary interruptions. This evening is all about the two of you!
