Whether you are not much of a wine drinker or you often find yourself with leftover wine from entertaining guests, it always helps to know what you can do with those leftovers. Wine is often thought of as a beverage, but you will soon find out just how many other uses there are as you continue reading below.
Softer skin
Red wine is known and loved for its amazing properties. If you apply it to your skin, you will love how soft and supple your skin will feel afterwards. Dab it on your skin or add some wine to your bath before you enjoy a soothing soak.
Clean your veggies
You most likely rinse your vegetables with water before you eat or cook them. If you put some wine in a spray bottle, you can spray them to clean them. Alcohol is an effective bacteria killer – far more effective than your usual rinsing routine.
Cleaning solution
White wine can be used to clean and disinfect surfaces. If you have natural stone worktops, you should not use wine! It will cause more harm than good. Wine can be used on other types of surfaces and even glass.
Marinade recipes
Wine has been used for many years to tenderize and marinade meat. It’s great for adding flavour. Also if you soak your meat in wine for at least 6 hours, you can lower the cancer causing properties that result from frying or grilling.
Vinegar
If you like to add vinegar to your salads or other recipes, you should know that you can make your own from leftover wine. Having your own vinegar on hand means that you will not need to buy a bottle again.
Freeze for later use
If you can’t use your leftover wine right away, you will be happy to know that it doesn’t have to go to waste. You can freeze your leftover wine in ice trays. This ensures that the wine freezes quickly and in portions that are easy to use as needed. You can add them to your cooking or use to chill your wine or cocktails without watering them down.
Before you get rid of a perfectly good bottle of wine – even if there’s just one glass left – think twice! You are sure to find at least one great way to put that wine to great use.
