Breakfast bars are delicious in the morning and between meals. Of course, when you buy them, you never know what they really contain. So here’s a delicious breakfast bar recipe you should try today!
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups rolled oats
- ½ cup nuts (chopped roughly)
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup ingredients to mix in like dried fruits, choc chips, coconut, etc.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and line a square baking dish with parchment paper.
- Put the oats and nuts on a baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes or until lightly toasted.
- Place the nuts and oats in a large bowl.
- Add the sugar, honey, and butter to a small saucepan and cook over a medium heat until the butter melts and the sugar has dissolved. Stir occasionally.
- Once the mixture is ready, remove from heat, add the vanilla and salt.
- Combine the two mixtures and add any extras you’d like to add (except for the chocolate). Stir to combine and make sure that none of the oats are dry.
- Wait for 15 minutes for the mixture to cool down if you are adding chocolate.
- Place the mixture to a prepared pan and use a rubber spatula to press the mixture flat.
- Chill and allow to set for 2 hours.
- Remove them from the pan and cut them into the desired shapes.
- These bars can be stored in the fridge or freezer. Just make sure that you wrap them individually so that they don’t stick together.
