Summer is the season for BBQs and cocktails. It’s the perfect time of year for entertaining guests and making the most of the warmer weather. If you really want to impress your guests, you should try these refreshing cocktails!
Grapefruit Garner
- 1 oz vodka
- 3 oz pink grapefruit juice
- 1 oz soda water
Fill a tall glass with some ice and add all of the ingredients. Stir well and garnish with a fresh slice of cucumber before serving. This cocktail is cool, refreshing, and delicious!
Bubbly Sangria
- ½ cup fresh mint leaves
- Zest from half a lemon
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup water
- 3 cups ice (cubes)
- 750ml dry sparkling wine (chilled)
- 1 ½ cups each of frozen sliced raspberries and strawberries
- 1 cup frozen sweet cherries (frozen)
Mix the mint, lemon juice, zest, sugar and water in a large pitcher. Stir everything together to bruise the mint slightly. Use a wooden spoon for best results. Allow to stand for 15 minutes. Add ice and sparkling wine to the mixture and stir well. Now add the frozen fruit and serve! This sangria is best enjoyed in chilled glasses.
Watermelon and mint spritz (non-alcoholic)
- 6 cups watermelon cubes
- 2 Tbsp lime juice
- ½ cup simple syrup
- 4 or 5 mint leaves and extra for garnish
- Sparkling water for servinge (chilled)
Add 5 of the 6 cups of watermelon cubes to a blender along with the lime juice. Puree until smooth and pour into a measuring cup. Add simple syrup and mint leaves to the blender and puree until the mint leaves are tiny flakes. Place some ice in each of your 6 glasses and fill them halfway with the watermelon juice. Add some of the minty simply syrup and top up with the sparkling water. Use skewers to create your garnish for each glass. Alternate between watermelon cubes and mint leaves. Garnish your drinks and serve! This is a great cocktail for the kids or for anyone who prefers non-alcoholic beverages.
