If your boss has a birthday coming up and you’re not sure how to help them celebrate, you may want to keep certain guidelines and etiquette in mind. There are some great gifts for bosses and also some gifts that are by no means suitable.
The first thing you need to avoid is anything that could be perceived as romantic. With so many different types of gift hampers out there, you should have no trouble finding one that cannot be interpretted as romantic. Any hamper with an anniversary or Valentine’s Day theme are obviously out of the question. Birthday themed hampers, on the other hand, are perfect!
Make sure that the hamper you choose is not for a specific recipient like Dad, Mum, or a spouse. There are a number of Mother’s Day hampers and Father’s Day hampers which look great. However, when you inspect the products and contents list, you will notice at least one item that is specifically included for a particular recipient.
Some great, safe ideas include chocolate hampers, pamper hampers, wine or beer hampers, and food hampers. If you find that the price is somewhat out of your budget, you could have a private meeting with your fellow employees and ask everyone how much they would be willing to contribute. Once you know how much you can spend, you can then shop around for an impressive gift.
Try to figure out their preferences in terms of food and beverages. Usually, their personal assistant will have a good idea of what they like and dislike so do some digging! You could even make a secret call to their spouse and ask them to help narrow down your choices while keeping your secret of course! Best of all, you can order the hamper online and have it delivered to your work address on the day. Everyone can pretend like the have no idea it’s a special day until the hamper finally arrives!
