With so many delicious treats on the menu over the holidays, it’s easy to forget about the wonderful delights nature has to offer. Not only is fresh fruit healthy, but it can also help curb your sugar cravings that usually make us deviate from our diet plans. Here are some wonderfully creative ways of serving fruit for Christmas.
One great idea is to use green grapes, bananas, strawberries, and mini marshmallows. Slide a grape on one end of a toothpick. Slide a slice of banana on top of the grape and then add your strawberry. You will need to trim the end of the strawberry to make a large, flat part on one end. The pointed end should be on the top. Finish off by topping with a mini marshmallow and you’ve got grapes in Santa hats!
You can even make your own fruity Christmas tree. You can choose a number of central items to form he core. If you want something safe and stable, you can opt for the core of a freshly cleaned pineapple. Work from the bottom up and use a combination of watermelon, strawberries, red grapes, and green grapes to decorate. For your lower layer, alternate between pieces of watermelon and strawberries. Use toothpicks to secure them in place. For the next layer, place two green grapes on a toothpick and insert. Above this layer, use strawberries and then follow with another layer of watermelon pieces. Use the red grapes (only one per toothpick) to make the following three layers followed by another strawberry layer. Finish off with one red grape layer and your star. Cut the star out of a large piece of watermelon and insert a toothpick. Add a strawberry to the bottom of the star so that the pointed end fits the bottom corner of the star. Insert into the top of your tree and enjoy!
If you don’t have too much time but you want to make something that everyone will love, you can make festive chocolate dipped strawberries. Dip your strawberries in white chocoalte and then roll them in some red, green and white sprinkles. You can also use milk chocoalte if you like. These are the easiest of all and you can be sure that your guests and family will love them!
