Summer is when you want to shed those extra pounds, not pack them on! Of course resisting temptation is tougher than it sounds so satisfying that sweet tooth needs to be done right if you don’t want to end up completely defying your diet.
Fresh fruit is great for giving your body a natural sugar boost without the kind of calories that you’ll find in a chocolate or similar treats. Fruit can also be used in desserts for an even more fulfilling dish without making you feel too guilty. Of course, as with anything in life, moderation is essential if you want to enjoy the benefits of the fruit without any potential negative effects.
Cobblers are delicious and filling. After a great meal, nothing finishes it all off better than a scrumptious cobbler! The best thing about cobblers is that you can use just about any kind of fruit! From apples and bananas to peaches and berries, you can choose the flavour you love most! If you use apples, you can also enhance the flavour even more by adding some cinnamon. You can even create a mixed fruit cobbler with two or more types of fruit all tossed together! Top with whipped cream or ice cream or eat as is! Cobblers are best served hot but can also be enjoyed at room temperature.
If you love berries and you want a decadent treat, then doss a few blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries together with a touch of sugar and a splash of lime juice. Serve with some freshly whipped coconut cream for added flavour!
If smores are your thing, then it’s about time you change up the old favourite recipe and add some fruit! Strawberries are particularly delicious but you can try all sorts of other combinations depending on your preferences.
For those who still prefer a creamy dessert even in summer, you can whip some cream and add mashed berries and sugar to give it some balance, flavour, and colour. Make sure that you mix the sugar with the berries first and blend everything well together before mixing with the firm, whipped cream. Remember to always chill your cream before you beat it in order to ensure that it turns out nice and firm. Refrigerate if you do not intend on eating this dessert right away. It’s also important to note that the juices from the sugar and berries might make the dessert seem a bit softer at first but, after refrigerating for at least an hour, you will notice everything start to firm up nicely and the dessert will hold together very well.
