Whisky is a wonderful ingredient in many kinds of recipes. It can also be used in desserts like this delicious whisky smash sorbet! Light, refreshing, and that added taste of whisky. The added bonus is that this recipe is so easy that anyone can make it!
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 – 2 Tbsp fresh grated lemon zest
- 4oz whisky (divided)
- ½ cup fresh mint (chopped fine)
- 2 cups fresh lemon juice (chilled)
Method:
- Place the water, sugar, half the whisky, and lemon zest in a saucepan and bring to a boil over a medium-high heat.
- Turn the stove down to low and let the syrup simmer for about 5 minutes while stirring occasionally.
- Once the sugar is completely dissolved, remove the pot from heat.
- Add the mint, stir, and allow to the syrup to cool to room temperature.
- Place the mixture in the fridge and let it cool for at least 4 hours.
- Strain the cold mixture to remove any solid pieces and remember to press the solids down to squeeze all that delicious juice out!
- Add the remaining whisky and the lemon juice, stir, and process in your ice cream maker.
- Store in the freezer or serve immediately.
