When enjoying a class or two of wine, it’s perfectly natural to feel the need to nibble. In fact, whenever you drink any kind of alcohol, your body will often send hunger signals and make you crave that little something extra. Whether you are enjoying a glass with your partner after work or you’re hosting a party, it’s good to know what kinds of fruit go best with different wines. In the winter you might crave carbohydrates but, in the warmer months of summer, lighter meals and snacks are more often on the menu. For fruit and wine pairing, use the following list as a guideline. This list is by no means set in stone and wine drinkers are actually encouraged to test and try new combinations. You never know what your taste buds might enjoy until you give it a go!

If you want to set out a fuller display of snacks to go with your wine, you can also add cheese and crackers to your table. Just make sure that you choose the right combinations of cheese and fruit for each type of wine. If possible, look for types of fruit and cheese that will go well with more than one type of wine. This way, you need only stock three or four types of cheese along with three or four types of fruit! Keep it light with wheat crackers and other light breads. Avoid white bread and white flour products if you’re trying to keep calories to a minimum.
