Fruit and chocolate taste delicious on their own and they go really well together too. Fresh fruit is a popular dipper for chocolate fondues. Various types of fruit can also be used to make delicious chocolate coated fruit skewers.

You will need:

  • Dark or milk chocolate for melting
  • White chocolate for melting
  • Fresh fruit of your choice
  • Skewers
  • Shallow rectangular casserole dish (for allowing the chocolate to set)

Instructions:

  • Start by preparing your fruit. Some good examples include strawberries, banana slices, mangoes, peaches, pineapples, and even apples. You want to make sure that the fruit you use is firm but ripe. They should not be over ripe or squishy. They also need to be cut to the appropriate size.
  • Melt your two types of chocolate and, if you are making a large quantity, you might want to use some kind of mild heating source to keep the chocolate from solidifying.
  • Place your fruit on the skewers and alternate between different types of fruit. Leave space between each piece of fruit while coating them.
  • Coat one skewer with the dark or milk chocolate and coat the next skewer with white chocolate. Alternate between skewers to create variety. Spoon the chocolate over the fruit to make sure it’s all properly coated.
  • Place the coated fruit skewers in the fridge using your casserole dish as a means of support. Balance either end of the skewers on the margin of the casserole dish.
  • Once chilled and the chocolate has solidified sufficiently, it’s time to drizzle some more chocolate over them. Before you do, however, you should slide all the fruit together so that they are now touching one another.
  • Use a spoon or toothpick to drizzle white chocolate over the dark chocolate skewers. Drizzle dark chocolate over the white chocolate skewers. This is for design purposes and it adds to the visual appeal.
  • Place your skewers in the fridge again and only remove once you are ready to serve them to your guests.
