While chocolate lovers will often swear that they never have any chocolate left over, the fact of the matter is that you might host a party, serve a chocolate fondue, and end up with leftovers. Even when you’re baking and you make your famous ganache, you might make a bit too much and wonder what you can do with the extra few grams.

  • Truffles are as luxurious as they are delicious! Use the firm ganache to roll into balls and roll them around in some cocoa powder. That’s all there is to it!
  • Dip your fresh homemade cookies in the chocolate for that double chocolate flavour!
  • Add some heavy cream to the chocolate to thin it out a bit more and use a base for hot chocolate or drizzle over your ice cream.
  • If you thin the mixture out even more (using cream), you can whip up the mixture and you’ve got chocolate mousse!
  • Warm the mixture, add some nuts, perhaps some dried fruit, and let it set in a cake pan. Cut into small portions and you’ve got fudge!
  • Use the chocolate as a topping or even a filling for cupcakes.

Never throw chocolate away! Even if you receive several chocolate gifts over the holidays or for Valentine’s Day, it’s a shame to let any of it go to waste. Remember that chocolate is best kept at room temperature. It changes texture and the chocolate intensity decreases when chilled. That said, ganache can be frozen if you want to keep it for another time.

The other advantage of all the ideas mentioned above, is that you can serve your truffles, fudge, and other treats to your guests or take them with you to share with your co-workers. Even if you can’t eat all of the chocolate yourself, you can always share with your friends and family.
